Tear Down This Wall: The Day Ronald Reagan Challenged the Berlin Wall

tear down this wall

In 1987, speechwriter Peter Robinson was told by US diplomats to write a speech for Reagan's visit to the Berlin Wall, but was warned against any "commie bashing." Thankfully, he didn't take their advice but instead wrote from the heart for all those who had suffered from communism. Reagan loved what he wrote and on June 12th gave the speech that changed history. "Tear Down … [Read more...]

Don’t Be an Individual: Best Graduation Speech Ever

individual

Nick Kocher gives what is probably the best high school graduation speech ever -- Don't Be an Individual -- offering an impassioned (and satirical) plea against being an individual and in favor of mindlessly joining the crowd. The talented Nick went on to become the co-creator of BriTANick, which has made a number of excellent short comedy skits including the excellent Award … [Read more...]

Tank Man: Short Film About Tiananmen Square Hero

Tank Man

On June 4th and 5th, 1989, the Chinese government violently put down the pro-liberty Tiananmen Square student protest. One man stood alone against a column of tanks, and for his extraordinary heroism became known as "Tank Man," though nothing more is known about his identity. Some say he was arrested and killed, others that he is still in prison in China, and still others that … [Read more...]

Homecoming: Short Film For Gay Non-Democrats

homecoming

So what's it like to be gay but not part of the left's gay political borg? Find out in this brilliant comedic short film Homecoming. It portrays a little-advertised but common (and ironic) experience. Incidentally, there is an entire movement of people that is helping gay people escape the leftist intellectual plantation. … [Read more...]

Show Me The Way To Ancapistan

Dominic Frisby has released another libertarian music video, this time about his dream libertarian homeland in Show Me the Way to Ancapistan. The closest thing to a libertarian homeland at the moment is, of course, New Hampshire, but no reason not to dream. … [Read more...]

I discovered this wonderful 20-minute anti-establishment comedy act by Alistair Williams. He covers everything from COVID mask mandates to toilets on state-sponsored trains. Hilarious! He's on our list of best libertarian comedians. … [Read more...]

Merdan Ghappar: Uighur Prisoner Sends SOS

Merdan Ghappar

Merdan Ghappar, a prisoner in one of China's notorious Orwellian "reeducation" camps was inadvertently given access to his cell phone. He quickly sent out this short video showing himself alone in a small cell, handcuffed to a bed, while propaganda broadcasts drone on in the background. He says nothing in the recording, likely so as to go undetected by guards. It's an … [Read more...]

Remy: Raise The Debt Ceiling Rap

debt ceiling

Thanks to wildly out-of-control spending, Congress has had to raise the debt limit eighty times since 1960 -- yes, sometimes more than once a year. It's about to happen again, though there is the usual faux battle to go through first, in which the Republicans momentarily hold the line and then cave (though I have to say they seem to be putting up more resistance this time). For … [Read more...]

Censorship Run Amok: Covid and Twitter

amok

In this short commentary, Censorship Run Amok, John Stossel shows not just how mainstream media was itself the source of disinformation it claimed to battle against, but that now that the cat is out of the bag they're just pretending that nothing happened. … [Read more...]

Never Forget: Cops Busted A Surfer Under Covid Rules

surfer

On this day, April 2nd, 2020, Malibu police arrested a man for paddle-boarding alone on the ocean because he was violating COVID social distancing rules. Again, this surfer was alone on the ocean. You could hardly say he wasn't social distancing. But California Governor Gavin Newsom had issued a strict stay-at-home order, so the surfer was handcuffed and perp walked along the … [Read more...]

About Miss Liberty

This site is a collection of films and documentaries of particular interest to libertarians (and those interested in libertarianism). It began as a book, Miss Liberty’s Guide to Film: Movies for the Libertarian Millennium, where many of the recommended films were first reviewed. The current collection has grown to now more than double the number in that original list, and it’s growing still.
