UPDATE: John Stossel is now releasing weekly libertarian-themed short films. You can see some of these on this site here. He also has a YouTube channel.
Mediate reports that “John Stossel will step down from hosting his weekly Fox Business program, Stossel, this month.” Separately, Stossel announced on Facebook that the special he is airing on Friday, 12/16 will be his last show on Fox Business.

Mediate adds, however, that Stossel will “be working with ReasonTV to start up a libertarian-themed internet platform. He’ll also serve as an educator with the Charles Koch Institute’s new Creative Fellows Program.” Stossel has been a prolific libertarian documentary filmmaker, and a few of his documentaries were reviewed over the years at MissLiberty.com. Many Stossel clips can be found on YouTube.
An entire educational program, “Stossel in the Classroom,” has been built around Stossel’s work and is available to teachers on a complimentary basis.
Per Wikipedia, “As a reporter, Stossel has received numerous honors including 19 Emmy Awards, and he has been honored five times for excellence in consumer reporting by the National Press Club.”
In response to the announcement, fans on Facebook poured out their grief: “You will be missed John. You were a voice of reason…Thanks for all your work. I remember watching you with my parents on 20/20 as a kid…A very sad day!!! I’ve always liked the way you present both sides and then let me make up my own mind…Even someone who considers himself ‘left-leaning’ such as myself will miss your logical, pragmatic approach to problems…I will throw my TV in the trash after your last show…Well there goes my last reason to watch Fox News or Fox Business…You will be sorely missed as your view is much needed in the echo chamber of the mainstream media…Guess I don’t need cable anymore…Stossel for White House press secretary?”
