Vindicated: Amanda Milius ‘Plot’ Film Was Right

vindicated

Film director Amanda Milius has just been vindicated. In 2020, Milius released The Plot Against the President, a documentary that alleged Hillary Clinton's campaign had colluded with intelligence agencies to falsely smear the Trump administration with links to Russia. The political left treated the film's narrative as a right-wing conspiracy theory of the lowest order. … [Read more...]

martin luther king

It's something of an irony that the Left still claims to be the champion of equality and tolerance but has nowadays officially dropped both of those things in favor of identity politics. The Martin Luther King vision of a world in which people "will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character," can't be squared with demands for people to be … [Read more...]

Die Hard: A Christmas Movie For Libertarians

Is Die Hard a Christmas movie? Film statistician Stephen Fellows cranked the numbers, looking at everything related to the film from Google hits to Die Hard posters to Wikipedia references, and he concludes that even if it wasn't intended to be a Christmas movie, "it most certainly is now." How did it get that way? Here are nine good reasons. Perhaps more importantly, Die … [Read more...]

WSJ: James Bond Is No Longer James Bond

james bond

The Wall Street Journal had a good editorial on the demise of the James Bond movies. In short, James Bond is no longer James Bond. "The original James Bond was suave and sassy while he resolved sinister plots. He exemplified cool: He drank vodka martinis but never to excess, was impeccably dressed and, though flirty, was a gentleman. The early films were filled with innuendo … [Read more...]

Media Narratives, Lies, And Slander: Three Films

media narratives

PJMedia had a good article on the left's pattern of trying to destroy young men by creating false media narratives about them. They mention Kyle Rittenhouse, Nick Sandmann, George Zimmerman, The Duke LaCrosse Team, Richard Jewell, victims of the Tawana Brawley hoax, and Bernhardt Goetz. In a couple of cases, these have been memorialized in films. The documentary Rush to … [Read more...]

The Berlin Wall: Eight Films To Honor the Dead

berlin wall

The infamous Berlin Wall was socialism itself: concrete and razor wire in the name of humanity, guard towers and machine guns in the name of human progress. It's ostensible purpose was to protect vulnerable East Germans from invasion, but as a practical matter it was simply a way of preventing the slave populations of the USSR from escaping to the West. By the time it … [Read more...]

A Pity You’ve Never Seen An Old Movie: 10 Suggested Films

Per the New York Post, "A new study finds that less than a quarter of millennials have watched an old movie from start to finish that was made back in the 1940s or 50s and only a third have seen one from the 1960s." This is something of a cultural tragedy, as so much of what is great in the larger body of … Continue Reading

About Miss Liberty

This site is a collection of films and documentaries of particular interest to libertarians (and those interested in libertarianism). It began as a book, Miss Liberty’s Guide to Film: Movies for the Libertarian Millennium, where many of the recommended films were first reviewed. The current collection has grown to now more than double the number in that original list, and it’s growing still.
