Building the Machine (2014)

Tagged: Government schools

A critical review of the Common Core States Initiative and its effect on U.S. education. [ Building the Machine credits: Dir: Ian Reid/ 70 min/ Documentary/ Government Schools]

External Reviews

“Building the Machine is viscerally insightful about the nature of Common Core.”
–IJ Review

“The film offers clarity to an initiative that is little known by the American public but will affect millions of students across the country.”
–The Daily Signal

“Building the Machine is an excellent place to start educating ourselves.”
–Catholicism USA

“The film points out that, ultimately, the debate is about who gets to decide what’s good for children, parents or the government…Anyone who is concerned about educational freedom and parental rights needs to be aware of what is happening and do all within their power to resist this encroachment on our freedom.”
–Cathy Duffy Reviews

“This film may not have all the answers, but it arms parents with the information they need to ask informed questions at their next Board of Education meeting, state legislative hearing, or education forum.  Whether viewed online for free or purchased on DVD, it’s a movie parents can’t afford to miss.”

About Miss Liberty

This site is a collection of films and documentaries of particular interest to libertarians (and those interested in libertarianism). It began as a book, Miss Liberty’s Guide to Film: Movies for the Libertarian Millennium, where many of the recommended films were first reviewed. The current collection has grown to now more than double the number in that original list, and it’s growing still.
