NIGEL Farage's life story is to be made into a £60million six-part Hollywood film series.

Nigel Farage and Arron Banks are to have their Brexit story told in a six-series film

The former Ukip leader and the party's top donor, Arron Banks, are set to sign a deal with a Hollywood studio for the series based on Mr Banks' diary of the referendum campaign, The Bad Boys of Brexit.

Oscar winner Kevin Spacey or Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch have been tipped to play Mr Farage, however the tweed-loving MEP has hinted at playing himself.

Shooting is set to start in 2018 after the deal is signed off next month, with the script also soon to be finished.

The story is to be told from the point of view of Gerry Gunster, a US pollster who advised the Leave.EU campaign set up by Mr Banks.

It will document how Mr Farage and Mr Banks won their fight to leave the EU against all odds and subsequently campaigned for Donald Trump in the US presidential election.

A source said Mr Gunster is to be portrayed as a "respected US expert being employed to control these British lunatics in the referendum".

They told the Telegraph: "It naturally descends into farce - but they win against all odds - he is then horrified that the British lunatics are sent to help a US reality TV star fight for the presidency.

"The farce continues and - guess what - they win and suddenly they are catapulted into the alternative White House to change the world, what could possibly go wrong!"

Mr Farage and Mr Banks are expected to be executive producers alongside LBC radio presenter Iain Dale, who published The Bad Boys of Brexit.

Mr Dale told the Telegraph: "Having conquered Europe, it seems the Bad Boys of Brexit are about to woo Hollywood.

"The main question is whether Danny DeVito is available to play Arron Banks. I just hope the writers can capture the humour and chaos displayed in the book."

Nigel Farage criticises cabinet ministers over Brexit negotiations

Refusing to confirm or deny the film series is soon to become a reality, Mr Farage said: "I am hoping if they do make the film, I think I should play me. I am really good at being me.

"It will be about Brexit and the start of the revolution of 2016, how Brexit stunned the establishment and led directly to the victory of Donald J Trump."

In December Andy Wigmore, a key aide to the pair said "some very serious Hollywood people" had been in touch and claimed any profits would go to charity.

A Ukip spokesman confirmed the pair have spent "some time" in Hollywood talking to film producers.

Brexiteers are keen for Danny DeVito to play Arron Banks

He told Express.co.uk: "It's no doubt that the events of the referendum campaign have more than a little dramatic content.

"Obviously the major players in both the Leave and Remain campaigns will be squabbling about who to play them.

"Who would dare play Arron Banks?

The film will be based on the Bad Boys of Brexit book

"They've spent some time in Hollywood talking to people and they do seem to have been putting quite a bit of work into this - and it's a major political event.

"There's a lot of joking and absurdity in Arron Banks' book.

"If you're going to do a version of the Brexit story why would you take any other account, they may be historically more accurate, but The Bad Boys of Brexit is very entertaining.

"There's no reason this wouldn't happen."
